The World Awaits: De La Hoya vs. Mayweather
Friday, May 4, 2007 9:44Both Oscar De la Hoya and Floyd Mayweather is at their height of training now for their the world awaits fight on May 5 (May 6-Manila Time) at the MGM Grand in Las Vegas Nevada. Both are now arrived in Las Vegas for their fight last Tuesday.
De la Hoya will try to capture the light middleweight title which is at present is in the hand of Mayweather in their coming fight called “The World Awaits”.
In the 7-day safety weight check in Los Angeles, both boxer acquired the weight limit. De la Hoya weighs 158 lbs. while Mayweather have 150 lbs.
The 33 year old De la Hoya has 38-4 win-loss record at 30 of these are KO’s while the 29 year old Mayweather has 27-0 win-loss record and 24 KO’s.
Filipino boxers are still on this big event, Rey “Boom-Boom” Bautista and AJ “Bazooka” Banal will have their undercard fights. Bautista will fight the undefeated Sergio Medina of Argentina for a 12 round eliminator fight while Banal versus Alberto Rosas.
The two fast-growing Filipino boxers are along with De La Hoya in his training under Freddie Roach as their trainer.
